What is the CCMA?
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration resolves workplace disputes through conciliation and, if necessary, arbitration.
Referring a dispute
Most disputes must be referred within 30 days of the date of dismissal or the act complained of.
Conciliation first
Parties attempt settlement with a commissioner. If conciliation fails, the matter may proceed to arbitration or the Labour Court depending on the dispute type.
